BECOME PUBLISHED IN YOUR FIELD!

HR Times is a quarterly, local human resources magazine endorsed by the SHRM Delaware State Council. Subscribers include SHRM Chapter and SHRM At-Large Members, business leaders and local HR professionals.

We are currently collecting articles and content for the first issue, to be launched at the Delaware Annual HR Conference in November. We are also in the process of reviewing articles and content for future issues of the magazine. Though quarterly, we look for information that our readers can return to as a reference.

Articles could include topics from these subjects: Employee Relations, Training and Development, Compensation and Benefits, Recruitment and Ret ention, and Legal and/or Legislative Updates. Articles should be resource-information focused; plugging of products or services will not be accepted within the article itself.

Articles are submitted on a voluntary basis and run from 500 words for content to as many as 2,500 for a featured piece; on average articles run between 1,000 and 1,500 words.

Authors are allowed a 50 word biography where they can plug their products or services, and a high-resolution (300 dpi) photo image. Photos should be taken with a professional-setting background.

Photographs for article are also accepted on a volunteer basis with credit to the photographer. Photographs must be a minimum of 300 dpi. We reserve the right to deny photographs at our discretion. Photographs should be mailed on disk to the address provided below.

  • Article interest must be known by August 1, 2008. Submission deadline for the inaugural issue is September 8, 2008. Submission of articles does not guara ntee publishing.

  • Articles and content must be approved by the SHRM Delaware State Council. HR Times reserves the right to edit all articles.

    SHRM Sponsors Funding for HR Internships
    The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Board of Directors recently announced the availability of funding to support HR internships. Students studying HR at the undergraduate or graduate level are invited to apply and compete for funding to help support themselves during a summer or fall 2008 HR internship. This financial support underscores SHRMs commitment to the next generation of HR professionals by providing an opportunity for students to take advantage of internship opportunities that will help them prepare for their career.

    Vickie McCardell, PHR, receives the 2007 Ron Shane HR Lifetime Achievement Award. At yesterday's Delaware State HR Conference, Frank B. Ingraham, Jr., SPHR and Delaware State HR Council Director, announced that Vickie was selected to receive the highest recognition in Delaware's HR community for her contribution to the profession. She is State HR Council Director-Elect, past-president of Delaware SHRM and Human Resources Manager at the International Reading Association. Congratulations! Link.

Drawing on years of research Mr. Seibert and his colleagues have conducted in talent management and internal customer service, results from large benchmarking studies exploring the impact of people equity and internal customer service on business outcomes, and an analysis of best-practice organizations, the session will give participants proven ways for HR professionals to raise people equity and their level of contribution to organizational success.

    For full refund, cancellations must be received by noon August 11, 2008. If your registration is not canceled by the deadline, and you do not attend the meeting, you will be billed for its cost.
