Delaware SHRM is Partnering with the HRTimes

by Rich Burton, MBA, PHR

The goal of Delaware SHRM has always been to connect HR Professionals in Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. Meetings and conferences are one way to do this, but other effective channels include e-mail and publications. Outside of e-mails we have put together quarterly newsletters for members that talked about relevant issues in Human Resources. Content was delivered via interviews, legislative updates, and articles from subject matter experts.

Last year the Delaware SHRM State Council formed a partnership with the HR Times, a professional publication that will continue to help us fulfill our mission of connecting HR Professionals in the tri-state area. One of the benefits of the HR Times is its full-time professional staff that works with our State Council. Together both groups work to ensure that the quality of the information in this publication makes it a great resource. The full time staff also ensures that distribution reaches a larger audience of members and non-members in the tri-state area. Hundreds read our newsletter, but the HRTimes reaches thousands!

Since our subject matter experts are local, a larger audience will also have an additional resource for state-specific information. Traditional topics include training and development, recruiting and retention, employee relations, benefits and compensation, and legislative updates. There are also opportunities for local companies to advertise and for members to publish articles. If you find yourself wondering when you can get a copy, new editions are published quarterly.

So when you are at any DESHRM or State Council event, ask about getting a copy of the HR Times. In it you will find not only DESHRM updates, but updates from the State Council and our downstate Delmarva Chapter. Our newsletter was a start, but the HR Times will help us take our communications to the next level.
